Matrix’s Aysia Jones-Robinson and the Clarksburg Coyotes Making History in Maryland Girls Flag Football
Matrix Sports Academy continues to support athletes at the forefront of Maryland’s growing girls flag football movement. Clarksburg High School quarterback Aysia Jones-Robinson, a standout two-sport athlete, has emerged as one of the state’s top players as the Clarksburg Coyotes continue to dominate on the biggest stages.
In coverage by The Washington Post, Sports Illustrated, and The Baltimore Banner, Aysia speaks to the growth of the team and the sport itself, noting that this season felt different because “we’re more connected than we were last year.” Her leadership on and off the field helped power an undefeated season and another state championship run.
Often compared to Lamar Jackson for her speed and playmaking ability, Aysia has earned the nickname “Lady Lamar.” Sports Illustrated describes her as “one of the faces of a fast-growing sport,” highlighting how she impacts games as both a passer and runner while setting the tone for her team.
From early pilot programs to championship games played in packed stadiums, the reporting shows how girls flag football has evolved into a legitimate pathway for female athletes — and Matrix is proud to support players who are helping shape the future of the game.
